Survive The Swarm Pets: Buffs and How to Get Them

What pets do in Survive The Swarm, the permanent buffs they carry, and how they're acquired — before you follow egg purchase and hatching steps.

Pets in Survive The Swarm are special companions obtained by hatching eggs. They carry permanent buffs, and the documented bonus attributes are damage, attack speed, and knockback. Specific pet names, exact bonus values, and the conditions under which these permanent bonuses apply (such as whether they stack or are always passively active) are not currently documented — check a pet's in-game bonus panel for its exact label before relying on it.

What pet bonuses are documented

Only three bonus categories are attached to pets in current reporting:

  • Damage — extra damage
  • Attack speed — faster attacks
  • Knockback — added knockback

Because the exact wording, numbers, and application rules for these bonuses are undocumented, treat any specific value you see elsewhere with caution and verify the bonus label on the pet's panel in-game. A "permanent" buff is not automatically a stacking or universally active one; don't assume behavior that isn't shown in-game.

How pets are acquired

The acquisition chain is simple at a high level:

  1. Earn Essence. Essence is one of the game's main currencies alongside Coins/Gold, and it's also spent on classes. Reported free Essence sources include working codes — for example, CLASSES reportedly grants 25 Essence plus roughly 308,250 Coins, and LAUNCH reportedly grants 25 Essence plus roughly 15,410 Coins. These reward amounts are reported values, so confirm them in-game before counting on them.
  2. Buy eggs with Essence. Eggs are the items you purchase with Essence.
  3. Hatch the egg to receive a pet.

The specific egg menus, purchase steps, and hatching procedure are covered by the dedicated pet-eggs guide rather than repeated here — head there once you've decided which pet bonus type you want.
