Survive The Swarm Gear Reference: Documented Scope, Codes & Currencies

What the reported gear category covers in Survive The Swarm, the expired GEAR code, and the Coins and Essence that fund gear and upgrades — a bounded reference without inventing item lists.

Gear in Survive The Swarm is reported as a general equipment concept, not a documented item list. Third-party coverage names gear alongside weapons, armor, and passives as part of your loadout — one description of the game loop says you "Equip game-changing gear, unlock lasting power, and fight alongside allies or die trying alone" — but no individual gear item, slot, or catalogue entry has been named in current reporting. This page records what that terminology covers, the status of the GEAR code, and the currencies that fund gear and equipment progression.

How "gear" is used

Across current coverage, gear is consistently named as part of the loadout rather than as its own documented category:

  • Coins and Essence are described as "the two currencies used to unlock classes, pets, and gear that make those runs survivable."
  • Codes are said to help you "grab tons of pets, weapons, armor, and passives to destroy the strongest bosses in the game!"

Two boundaries follow from that wording:

  1. No named gear items or slots are documented yet. A detailed gear list cannot be built from current reporting, so treat any "complete gear catalogue" claim with suspicion until the game itself shows one.
  2. Armor's status is unresolved. Armor appears only in a single passing mention above. Nothing in current reporting resolves how armor relates to gear, weapons, or any slot system, so don't treat armor as a confirmed equipment category — check the in-game interface for the current structure.

Gear and passives also should not be treated as interchangeable categories: passives are named separately in every mention of the loadout.

The reported status of the GEAR code

A code literally named GEAR existed for Survive The Swarm. Some September 10, 2026 guides list it as expired, while other guides report no expired codes. Its original reward was never documented, so the code's name is not evidence of what gear exists in the game; verify its current status in-game.

Codes reported as working as of that same date:

  • CLASSES — 25 Essence and roughly 308,250 Coins (the same amounts are also labeled "308.25k Gold" in some listings; the currency name is currently inconsistent across coverage, so check the Shop display in-game)
  • LAUNCH — 25 Essence and roughly 15,410 Coins (likewise reported as "15.41k Gold" elsewhere)

Redemption is reported via Shop → code redemption section → Enter code at the bottom of the in-game Store window. Guides disagree on case sensitivity, so enter codes in the exact capitalization shown.

Currencies that fund gear and upgrades

The currencies tied to building up gear and the rest of the loadout are Coins (also written Gold in some coverage) and Essence:

  • Coins cover general shop purchases and upgrades that raise your stats between runs.
  • Essence buys eggs — pets with permanent buffs such as damage, attack speed, or knockback — and new classes, each featuring a unique set of weapons and a special ability.

No gear-specific unlock levels, upgrade costs, or synergy requirements are documented in current reporting, so treat this page as the terminology, code, and currency reference and confirm any item-level details in-game.
