Survive The Swarm Gold: Reported Sources and What It Buys
Reported Gold (also labeled Coins) sources in Survive The Swarm, what the currency funds, and why securing run earnings matters before you spend.
Gold in Survive The Swarm is the progression currency used for equipment purchases and character improvements. Its clearest reported source is redeemable codes, which grant amounts reported as 308.25k Gold (code CLASSES) and 15.41k Gold (code LAUNCH), each with 25 Essence. Two boundaries apply up front: run-based Gold earning rules are not covered here, and the currency's name is not fully settled (more on that below).
Currency labels: Gold vs. Coins is not settled
Guides covering the game disagree on the currency's name. Some describe code rewards as Gold and Essence, calling Gold and Essence "the most important resources for progression." Others list the exact same codes with the same numeric rewards but label the currency Coins — described as funding purchases and improvements tied to character evolution.
Because the reward amounts match exactly (308.25k and 15.41k with 25 Essence each), the two labels almost certainly refer to the same resource, but that equivalence has not been verified. This page uses "Gold" and flags the Coins label where it applies. Check your in-game currency icon and name to confirm which label your version uses.
Reported code rewards
Redeemable codes are the clearest reported way to obtain Gold. These amounts are as reported, active as of September 10–11, 2026, and codes can expire — recheck before relying on them.
| Code | Reported reward | Status |
|---|---|---|
| CLASSES | 308.25k Gold and 25 Essence (also reported as 308,250 Coins) | Active as of September 10–11, 2026 |
| LAUNCH | 15.41k Gold and 25 Essence (also reported as 15,410 Coins) | Active as of September 10–11, 2026 |

What Gold is spent on
The currency is consistently framed as a progression resource, not a cosmetic one. Redeeming codes is described as letting you "power up your loadout faster," and the currency funds purchases and improvements tied to character evolution — complementing Essence, which is tied to classes and pet eggs. The game's own description has players equipping gear and unlocking lasting power, so equipment improvement is the spending context.
However, no specific weapon, gear, or upgrade prices have been published, so exact destinations and costs need to be confirmed in-game. Don't expect a fixed price table here until those values are documented.
The run loop around the currency
Survive The Swarm is a roguelite bullet-heaven: pick a class, survive enemy waves, defeat the final boss, and escape through the portal before the ghosts get you. Wins pave the way toward higher difficulties and "more valuable rewards," which implies a run-based reward structure. But the run earning loop itself — how much Gold a run earns, when earnings are credited, or whether they must be secured by escaping — is not documented here. Treat code rewards as a reported starting balance and verify them in-game before planning equipment purchases.
