Survive The Swarm Co-op: Playing With Friends and Shared XP

What's known about playing Survive The Swarm in co-op with friends, and the player-reported shared XP and synced leveling behavior in the same run.

Survive The Swarm can be played in multiplayer with others, including playing as survivors together. In a recorded co-op session, two players joined the same run, each picking their own upgrades — one noted "I think we all have the same upgrades though" — and played through the map together, coordinating choices like attack speed and crit damage.

The specific menu steps for joining a friend's activity aren't documented here, so check the in-game multiplayer entry options before planning a group session.

Shared XP and leveling in co-op runs

Players in the same co-op run report gaining the same XP and leveling up in sync. During one session, the two players confirmed identical levels ("I'm level 12, too," later "Same" at level 17), and one stated plainly: "We literally share XP."

A few related observations from that same casual session, none of which should be treated as tested rules:

  • When one player jokingly asked whether their diamonds were also going to the other, the exchange suggested earned currencies may be mirrored between co-op players — but this was banter, not a verified reward mechanic.
  • One player noted that standing still and doing nothing kept them level-synced with the group, consistent with XP being shared regardless of individual contribution. This remains an informal observation.

Whether a completed map registers as a clear for every participant is not confirmed. If your group is chasing map-clear progress, verify in-game how a finish is recorded for each of you before relying on it.

Before you queue up

Confirm with your group, in-game, how entry works and how progress registers — the shared XP behavior described above is player-reported from co-op play, not an official published rule, so treat it as a strong expectation rather than a guarantee.
